Giving Tuesday - Giving Food Day

Giving Tuesday is on November 29th and we have an amazing matching opportunity!

Please help us to ensure that our students do not have to go a day without food.

Right now, out of 11 million Haitians, 1.3 million are highly food insecure (and close to starvation), and another 4.5 million do not have more than one meal a day. This extreme food insecurity is further complicated by the ongoing gang violence in the country. Many people are terrified to leave their homes, especially in the densely populated areas, like Port-au-Prince.

Markets are open only three days a week. Inflation is as high as 35% and a lot of the produce from the countryside never reach the city markets because of the ongoing gang wars. As it is getting harder every day to get by, our students are suffering. Many of them do not have parents or relatives who can provide for them. Kids Connection Haiti currently provides 35 young adults with a modest amount of food money to survive.

Let’s turn GIVING TUESDAY into GIVING FOOD DAY!

We already received an amazing matching gift of $4,000. Which means that your gift will be doubled, dollar for dollar!

ANY gift will make a difference! Not sure what to give? Here are some ideas:

  • $5 buys a plate of rice and beans and a drink

  • $21 will provide basic food supplies for a student for one week

  • $84 will provide food supplies for a student for one month

  • $168 will provide food for a shared house of four students for two weeks

THANK YOU!
