ten year anniversary
This year, we will be celebrating ten years of Kids Connection Haiti. Ten years of compassion. Ten years of changing lives.
In September 2009 the idea for KCH was born, the legal part accomplished and the first volunteers were put to work. A few months later, the unimaginable happened. January 12, 2010, Haiti collapsed. 300,000 people lost their lives and a million people lost their homes in a devastating earthquake. That day will be marked in our memories forever, with the utmost sadness.
In spite of the even bigger challenge, KCH accepted a handful of students. Our budget was small and the need was overwhelming. But KCH made sense. One by one we started helping young adults with their education, their homes and their livelihoods. Most of them stayed in our program for 3, 4, 5 years. Many of them had years of education to catch up on.
Family and friends got involved, became donors and sponsors. KCH graduates started doing internships within KCH and some became staff members. We expanded our program with monthly workshops, community service and social work support. We created a family environment for young adults who had no family.
And now, ten years later, we are here. With 100 students and more enthusiasm than ever before. 2019 is going to be our best year yet. We have exciting plans that we will be revealing soon. Stay tuned!
Thank you, for your loyal and generous support. Your support has truly changed lives.
