Celebrating Success and Togethernes
While the situation in Haiti is still difficult, about 100 KCH students are now back in school. Some can't return yet because their commute to school is unsafe. Fifteen of our young men and women participate in our 'catch-up' classes in preparation for their state exams to make up for the many schooldays they missed.
I want to share some remarkable milestones of our students and show you how they find happiness in their shared experiences despite the grim image portrayed by the news. Your support has been essential in making these achievements possible!
After experiencing immense suffering as a young child, Fabiola was raised at an orphanage until she joined our girls' house in 2019. At KCH, Fabiola finished high school, followed by a two-year training course where she recently graduated as a certified physical therapist.
She is committed to starting her own practice and working with KCH students at our clinic when they need physiotherapy. We wish Fabiola the best of luck in her professional career!
After two long months of hiding in their homes due to the violence in the streets, our students reunited for a group meeting in early June. The joy of seeing each other again was palpable! They had missed each other so much. The day started with a motivational workshop to uplift their spirits, followed by games and May/June birthday celebrations. Group meetings are the pillars of KCH's success. They foster connections among the students and strengthen our community.
Dear donor, you play an essential role in our community. Thank you for not giving up on our Haitian young adults. Your support has given them food in times of emergency and enabled them to continue their education and pursue their dreams despite their challenges. Together, we continue to make a difference and we are excited to share many more successes with you.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Astrid
