Today is World Health Day!

In Haiti, there is not much to celebrate about the health care system. Overcrowded hospitals, lack of medical staff and death by preventable diseases are only a few of the countless challenges. Did you know that there's only one physician for every 10,000 patients in Haiti? (In the US, the estimated rate is 1200-1900 patients/physician). Imagine the waiting times... Please help our students to NOT become a statistic. May I ask you to support our Health Fund so we can continue to provide medical care to our students?

With the amazing Dr. Schneider on our team two days a week, our students have access to medical care, AND we are setting up a KCH medical clinic on site under the leadership of Dr. Schneider as well. This is a HUGE blessing!

To offer the best medical care in our clinic, we need to buy equipment and tools and some of our medical expenses will be ongoing (nurses' salaries, rent, medication). May we ask you for support? A donation of any size will help.

Items that your donation could cover:

  • Lancets: $4

  • Thermometer: $8

  • Glucometer: $20

  • Oximeter: $65

  • Adjustable Bedside table: $140

  • Mechanical Measuring Station: $450

  • General Exam Table: $1050

I hope we can count on your compassion and kind generosity. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you!

Stay healthy!

Sincerely,
Astrid

LOURDIA

The KCH Health Fund, officially named "The Lourdia Exavier Memorial Health Fund", was created in honor of our beloved student Lourdia, who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. Lourdia was a brilliant young woman, compassionate, cheerful and an inspiration to all of us. We still miss her every day.

Thanks to the KCH Health Fund, here is one happy young man!

Duverson, an orphaned young man, was struggling with school. He'd be frustrated for not understanding what was written on the blackboard. Look at the joy on his face now! Thanks to Dr. Schneider and his team, Duverson's eye-issue was diagnosed and treated. He can return to school and be confident in his reading skills again. He loves his new glasses. A life changer for Duverson!
